Arrowtown is home to three of New Zealand’s best golf courses: Arrowtown Golf Club, The Hills and Millbrook. Each has its own special features and we encourage golfing enthusiasts to play at each during their stay in Arrowtown.
Two further spectacular courses are less than 30 minutes away: Jacks Point and Queenstown Golf Club, both situated on the shores of Lake Wakatipu.
We are in the processing of creating some Queenstown and Arrowtown Golf Packages especially for golfers keen to experience the best courses in the district.
The picturesque Arrowtown Golf Club is a must when playing Queenstown Golf, surrounded by mountains the 18 hole course has superb views from every fairway. Each hole has its own attraction and the diverse and challenging course attracts players from all over the world. Historic stone cottage ruins nestle amongst towering trees, a legacy of Arrowtown’s pioneers.
Home of the New Zealand Golf Open, The Hills is set in 500 acres of glacial valley with the layout highlighting the dramatic elevation changes and rocky schist outcrops that are a feature of the area. This championship layout provides a serious challenge for accomplished players while thoughtful and considerate design means that the golf course is equally enjoyable for golfers of all abilities. The beauty of the course’s lakes, waterways and wetland areas are complemented by a stunning array of sculptures made by local and international artists.
One of the most scenic golf courses in the world, Millbrook is simply an unforgettable Queenstown golfing experience. With extraordinary photo opportunities at every turn, the championship course offers three fabulous nine hole courses, each named after local prominent Queenstown landmarks- The Remarkables, The Arrow and The Coronet Nine. This championship course features five different tee positions for complete enjoyment at all levels of playing expertise. Millbrook’s course is best described as a mix between the world-class immaculately manicured “Parklands” courses and “Links” courses, offering a variety of natural hazards including tussocks, streams, schist stone, trees and buildings.
As well as the three great courses in Arrowtown, Queenstown boasts two further golf courses that keen golfers should not miss: Queenstown Golf Club in Kelvin Heights and Jacks Point Golf Course (just past the Remarkables Ski Area).
Jack’s Point championship golf course, carved from former high country station farmland, backdropped by the Remarkables Mountain range and overlooking Queenstown’s Lake Wakatipu, is billed as one of the world’s most spectacular courses. The 18-hole par 72 course provides a range of challenges for both experienced and beginner golfers on a course that follows natural contours and features tussock grasslands, dramatic rocky outcrops and steep bluffs offset by striking alpine and lake views.
As Queenstown’s newest course, built in 2008, it already has a world-class reputation which is attracting an international following. It is ranked the best South Island course in NZ.
The Queenstown Golf Club has been described as one of the most picturesque golf courses in the world. Framed by the famous Remarkables mountain range, a round at Queenstown Golf Club is sure to be a highlight of your Queenstown visit. Located on the Kelvin Heights peninsula, surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Lake Wakatipu you will see why it is difficult to keep your head down.
Queenstown Golf Course is a Par 72 course for men and 74 for ladies. The Blue course measures 6,103m.
